Marcel Dekker crowned four-time Mazda MX-5 Cup champion on Hankook tyres in Assen
04 Nov 2025
Pure drama at the finale of this season’s Mazda MX-5 Cup at TT Circuit in Assen: the drivers battled it out for the final points of the season in unsettled weather on 25th and 26th October. Whether in the rain or on dry asphalt, the Hankook race tyres provided the drivers with the grip and reliability required to produce their best performances. After victory for Dutchman Wouter Jansen in the opening race, his compatriots Mees Houben and Marcel Dekker were embroiled in a close battle in race two. Dekker initially crossed the finish line in second place, but was then promoted to first after a penalty for Houben. In the final race of the season, team-mates Houben and Sam Jongejan claimed a one-two for MV Motorsport. Fourth place was sufficient for Dekker to win the championship and claim his fourth title in the Mazda MX-5 Cup. Leon van Verseveld put the icing on the cake at the end of a strong season for Dekker Racing by winning the Junior title.
