Circuit
TCR Italy title race reaches a head in Mugello
09 Oct 2025
The drivers travelled to Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello for round five of TCR Italy. From 12th to 14th September, the protagonists delivered two thrilling races that showcased the very best of touring car racing, with the Hankook Ventus Race providing the stability required for the multitude of battles out on the track. The title race between Italian Nicola Baldan and Canada’s Nicolas Taylor really captured the imagination of spectators at the iconic circuit to the north of Florence. However, Saturday’s race was all about Michele Imberti. Up against strong opposition, the Italian took full advantage of the optimal grip provided by the Hankook tyre to convert pole position and celebrate his first win of the season. Championship leader Baldan finished third, while Taylor came home fifth. Taylor, who is striving to defend his title this year, really caught the eye in race ten of the season. From third place on the grid, he initially held onto his position whilst also looking after his tyres. That allowed him, with roughly two minutes remaining, to first overtake the second-placed car with a spirited manoeuvre, and then to pass the leader in a spectacular battle. A fourth win of the season saw the reigning champion close to within three points of Baldan, who still tops the table after another third place. The 2025 season, and with it the title race, draws to a close from 10th to 12th October in Misano.
