Ley and Taylor win on Hankook tyres in Imola at round four of the TCR Italy season

10 Sep 2025

Round four of this year’s TCR Italy saw the drivers produce two thrilling races at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola on the first weekend in August. Britain’s Alex Ley got off to a disappointing start in the Saturday race and was unable to hold onto second place. However, he then used the optimal grip provided by the Hankook tyres to overtake two cars and take the lead under braking into turn one. Even when it started to drizzle, the drivers could still rely on a high degree of stability from the race tyre supplied by the premium tyre maker – especially Ley, who proved unstoppable and claimed his second win of the season. One day later, Nicolas Taylor from Canada impressed in the second race of the weekend. The Audi driver climbed from third to first on the opening lap. Spectators witnessed the appearance of the safety car on two occasions during the 30-minute race, but even that could not knock last year’s champion out of his stride. An important factor was the Hankook Ventus Race, on which he set the fastest lap of the race and crossed the finish line in first place. Championship leader Nicola Baldan from Italy finished seventh and second to defend his position at the top of the table. Round five of TCR Italy takes the thrilling touring car action to Mugello from 12th to 14th September, when all eyes will be on the title race between Baldan and defending champion Taylor, who are separated by just twelve points.
