From 31st May to 1st June, the Supercar Challenge powered by Hankook delivered an entertaining race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, with 45 GT and Cup cars in action. In summery temperatures, the Ardennes was not the only thing looking great – the high-class and diverse field was also out to impress. In the opening race of the weekend, Belgian John de Wilde pulled off the decisive manoeuvre on the Kemmel Straight. The Porsche driver used the optimal grip level of the Hankook Ventus Race to overtake Dutchman Daan Meijer in a BMW M6 GT3. De Wilde held onto the lead until the end of the race and celebrated victory on the Saturday. The Sunday was then all about Cees Wijsman in the BMW M6 GT3. The Dutchman quickly got his Hankook tyres up to the ideal temperature and overtook Belgian driver Gilles Renmans in the La Source hairpin in the early stages of the race. He then defended the lead through to the finish. Victory saw Wijsman climb the overall standings, in which he now lies second.
