Eurocup-3 in Portimão and Le Castellet: Close title race on Hankook tyres
03 Jul 2025
The title race in the Eurocup-3 series captivated fans in both Portimão (Portugal) and the French town of Le Castellet in June. On the Algarve coast, Mexican Ernesto Rivera moved to the top of the overall standings with a second place and a victory in the third and fourth races of the championship. Two weeks later, Kacper Sztuka hit back at Circuit Paul Ricard. The Pole claimed his first win of the year in the sixth race of the season, and consequently replaced Rivera at the top of the table. Prior to this, Italian Mattia Colnaghi had rejoined the title race with an impressive win in the opening race in Le Castellet. Sztuka leads the overall standings with 104 points, ahead of Colnaghi and Rivera who both have 99. In fourth place is Valerio Rinicella (90) – the Italian also consistently scored points at both events to stay in touch with the leading trio. After three events, just 14 points separate the top four drivers – proof of how evenly matched the series is, and how the drivers benefit from the consistently strong performance of the Hankook Ventus Race. The next round, from 4th to 6th July in Monza, promises to produce more drama in the four-way battle for the title.
