Sebastian Ogier claims his second FIA WRC win of the season in Portugal

02 Jun 2025

The Rally de Portugal took place in mid-May on the demanding gravel roads around Matosinhos.

Sébastien Ogier celebrated his seventh victory at this iconic round of the FIA World Rally Championship (FIW WRX) and now has more wins in Portugal to his name than any other driver. At the wheel of a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, the Frenchman came out on top after a close battle with Estonian Ott Tänak and Finland’s Kalle Rovanperä. Tänak ended the rally in second place, with Rovanperä completing the podium in third. Across all four days of the rally, Ogier was able to depend on the consistent performance of his Hankook gravel tyres, which provided reliable grip and stable handling in high temperatures and on loose ground, giving him the confidence needed to make precise decisions. With clever speed management and strong nerves, he was able to hold onto the lead and crossed the finish line with an advantage of 8.7 seconds. The FIA WRC continues from 5th to 8th June on Sardinia – on narrow, rocky ground and in high temperatures, where the Hankook tyres will again play a key role.
